BHM : History Lesson : Harlem Renaissance

February 14, 2011 § 1 Comment

I stumbled across this link (click picture below) and think it’s a great summary of the Harlem Renaissance. What a better time period to relating back to Black History Month?

The Renaissance was not only a period of flourishing Black arts, but the birth of a new ideology, fostering Black pride, too An awakening of the “Black bourgeoisie.” The embracement of Black talents and gifts. The birth and revival of many civil right groups and businesses.

Anyways, the point of the post is to merely provide the history. Also, I would love if we developed something similar to this. A period of Black pride isn’t a bad thing at all. Maybe it would change a lot of things. Start to love ourselves instead of looking for love on Facebook and Twitter. Literacy rate would rise because we actually praised our authors (and read books).

High hopes.
